    I’m wondering what applications companies are looking to impliment in the short term. Are they merely looking to prove the capabilities of their mobile devices in the enterprise to justify continued distribution or are they looking to arm employees who BYOD with the tools to do more than search the internet? Appreciate any insight that’s provided.

    The application requirement varies between sectors, however in general the large enterprises are looking at staying connected with their employees & customers. One of the cheapest and effective way of doing this is through messaging (SMS)

    SMS Plugins for informing employes and customers from ERP/CRM are most sought. The next in line would be the Customer interaction (Brand building/loyalty/feedback). Mobile is the cheapest mode for 2way interaction, mediums used would be SMS, Voice, USSD, WAP, Mobile application.

    With the global financial crisis looming, 2012 will be a year with enterprise being more conservative to explore fancy technology. Enterprise Mobile applications market will sprout chiefly in the African and Asian market.
