Over the last few months I have been intrigued by NFC’s (near field communications), their wide range of horizontal uses and how they will be integrated / implemented into the enterprise application space.

I am interested to hear:
1.) How are companies evaluating this technology for use within their organizations ?
2.) How are vendors integrating NFC’s into their platforms ?

I will go first, for example: I currently run the North American channel for a Pre-packaged mobile application vendor and have begun the process of injecting NFC’s into our new security apps. We have recently deployed to a large security management firm who provides security services to airports, hospitals, manufacturing, government buildings and other secure locations. The NFC’s will be directly integrated into our apps, replacing outdated bar-coding technology and “wand based” guard tour systems. Allowing security officers to capture specific post location information and check point verification without direct interaction.
