Five Predictions for Enterprise Mobility in 2011

This Executive Insight covers five of the most important trends that The Enterprise Mobility Foundation believes will define mobility within the workplace in 2011.  Organizations are encouraged to consider these predictions – and their associated recommendations – in order to be prepared for the continued proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace.

The five predictions include:

  1. Smartpads Will Be The Catalyst For Growth In Enterprise Mobility
  2. The Definition Of a Mobile Application Will Become Completely Blurred
  3. Enterprise Mobility Becomes “Cloudy”
  4. Consumer Social Networking Will Fuel Enterprise-Grade Mobile Security
  5. Managed Services Will Be a Key Driver Moving Forward In Enterprise Mobility Management

Not sure of too many practical benefits for business yet, but I’d love to see more augmented reality applications for enterprise taking off.

I believe the two most important factors for entreprises would be – Managed Services and Social Networking. Managed Services would offer the entreprise a solution to minimize the costs and the avoidance of building the requisite infrastructure and expetise in house.

As to the question of blurring the Mobile Application, I would like to understand it as an extension of the same Application inside the entreprise that the user is habituated to use with the appropriate UI on the Mobile. The smart phone have so much to offer on UI with touch screen navigation, lookups for values, gadets for data entry that the UI gaps has been tremendously reduced.Social networking of one’s environment makes it moe fun and sharing than it used to be.
